.South Glasgow resident Shirley Maxine Cooper, 88, passed away at Boone Hospital Center April 14, 2008.

Mrs. Cooper was born May 8, 1919 in Howard County to Lewis and Ethel Robertson Silvey. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1937 and received her teaching certificate. She taught at Linridge School, south of Glasgow in 1940 and 41. Maxine married Oree Vaughn Cooper May 30, 1941 and he preceded her in death November 22, 1992. Maxine loved to read and spend time with her family who she loved dearly. She was a devoted member of Boonesboro Christian Church.

Mrs. Cooper is survived by her two children, Vaughn and wife Linda Cooper of Glasgow and Reba and husband Brad Ertz of Fayette, four grandchildren, Scott, Richard, Tanya and Ethan, four great grandchildren, Lucas, Tucker, Karlie and Kason, one sister, Doris Rains of Columbia. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Hal, a sister, Joyce and one great granddaughter, Elyse Renee.

Funeral services will be 10 AM, Monday April 21, 2008 at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow with Rev. Roger McMurry officiating. Visitation was 6:30to 8 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery near Lisbon with Donnie Wilmseyer, Jay Hull, David and Eddie Straatman, Norman Haskamp and Dean Mayfield serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Joyce and Janna Jull, Jill Monning, Lois Crowley, Barbara Quinley, Kathy Lamb, Olive Woods, Ellen Shipp and Peggy Johnson.
