Doris Jeanne Menees

1925 - 2011

Fayette resident Doris Jeanne Menees formerly of Hannibal, MO, died suddenly at her home April 4, 2011. She was 85 years of age.

Mrs. Menees was born April 11, 1925 in Hannibal, MO to Fred and Lorraine (Courtney) Johnston. A graduate of Hannibal High School class of 1942. She married Donald Menees in April of 1947. They were married for 58 years and Mr. Menees preceded her death January 10, 2003.

Survivors include her son, Fred D. Menees and his wife Julie J. Menees, grandchildren, Allison Brown and Garth Menees, and great-grandson, Haden Kelly, all of Fayette.

Mrs. Menees attened Linn Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Lydia Circle. She was also a member of All Year Round Club.

Mrs. Menees was a resident of Hannibal, Missouri for many years, where she belonged to Park United Methodist Church. For a number of years before her health failed she owned and operated the Levee House, a gift and accessories shop in the tourist district in downtown Hannibal. Mr. and Mrs. Menees were also members of the Hannibal Country Club.

Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette with Reverend Eric Moore of Linn Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 1 PM, an hour prior to the service.

A committal service will take place 1 PM, Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel in Hannibal, MO with Rev. Rebecca Peak officiating.
