Marie (Garner) Lewis
1926 - 2011
Former Armstrong resident, Ellen Marie (Garner) Lewis passed
away at Boone Hospital in Columbia on April 26, 2011. She was
84.
Marie was born in Fount, Kentucky on May 1, 1926 to Alex and
Areny Jordan Engle. She married James Garner on March 10, 1945
and he preceded her in death October 2, 1986. On July 9, 1988,
Marie married Donald Lewis in Armstrong.
Marie was currently a member of Woodville Baptist Church in
Macon, and she was previously a member of the Armstrong Baptist
Church for over 50 years. She loved flowers, especially violets,
and enjoyed gardening when she was able. Marie truly cherished
her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and
grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Donald of Macon, two
daughters, Donna (Don) Bradley of Mesa, AZ and Diana (Don)
Bartholomew of Armstrong, four step-children, James and Paul
Lewis, Sabrina Mudd and Mary Wilson, two sisters, Lois Trester
of Armstrong and Henrietta Thompson of Mount Rose, CO. She is
also survived by five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and
thirteen great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband
James, Marie was preceded in death by an infant daughter,
Carolyn Ann, and five brothers, Arnold, Hubert, Earl, Ancel, and
Frank.
Services for Mrs. Lewis are 11 AM, Friday, April 29 at the
Armstrong Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Brant officiating. A
Visitation will be held the evening before the service from 6-8
PM at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette. Burial will
follow the service at Walnut Hill Cemetery with Neil Nelson,
Richie Lyon, Travis Gregory, Scott Bartholomew, and James and
Paul Lewis serving as pallbearers.
