George Goodson

1938 - 2011

Fayette resident George Todd Goodson, 72, passed away at University Hospital in Columbia March 10, 2011.

Mr. Goodson was born November 14, 1938 in Columbia, MO the son of George Harold and Edna Ruth Dometrorch Goodson. He graduated from Fayette High School in 1956 and attended the University of Missouri. He served in United States Army, doing a tour of duty in South Korea. George married Mary Louise Drewery October 23, 2004 and she preceded him in death August 20, 2005. He was previously married to Karen Sue Frisby.

George worked in the Grocery Business for 30 years, 20 of them at McCutcheon’s United Super in Fayette. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church, having served as middle adult Sunday school teacher and church moderator. He also taught Bible study at the Fayette Caring Center. He was past president of the Fayette Jaycees and a past member of the Community Betterment Association. An avid cat-fisherman, he loved to read and spend time with children.

Survivors include six step-children, Cindy Beasley, Robbie Page, Randy Drewery, Laurie, Jeff and Rick Cramer, 14 step- grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 AM, Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Chapel in Fayette with Pastor Clay Dewoody officiating. A private burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery near New Franklin at a later date.
