Howard Enyard
1952 - 2012
Howard Kent Enyard was born in Glasgow, MO
on March 11, 1952 to Marion (Tudie) Enyard and Laura Delores
Enyard (Butner). Howard was the seventh of eleven children.
Howard attended elementary and secondary
school in the Glasgow Missouri School District. He was a 1969
graduate of Glasgow High School. Howard was a superb athlete who
excelled in basketball, baseball and track. Howard was such a
gifted athlete, that upon graduation he was offered a basketball
scholarship to the University of Maine.
Howard opted to attend Lincoln University
in Jefferson City, following in the footsteps of his older
siblings. He left Lincoln University after a year to enter
directly into the job market. Howard migrated to Detroit,
Michigan to be with his older sisters, Barbara and Marion and to
seek high wage employment.
Howard worked at a number of jobs, before
finding his career in the automotive industry. He worked for
General Motors for more than two decades and upon his transition
was still a valuable employee of the world’s leading auto maker.
Howard made his home in Columbia, Tennessee where he worked in
the Saturn plant; he was subsequently transferred to Lansing,
Michigan where he worked at the General Motors plant until his
passing.
Howard was a handsome, gregarious man, with
loads of charm, who loved his family more than life itself. He
possessed a fabulous sense of humor and was a great story
teller. Howard would hold court with his humorous interpretation
of everyday life events. Howard continued to seek higher
education by taking college classes online. As he matured and
gained knowledge, he became a motivational speaker, seeking to
help young people reach their maximum potential. With his
special deposition, he made a difference in the lives of many.
As a father and brother, Howard was without
equal. He lived out the true meaning of what it is to be a
father. He attended, supported, coached, and advised his
children in all of their school and sports activities. When a
family member was in need, Howard was there to see that their
needs were met. Howard was respected and well loved by his
family, friends and co-workers.
