Robert Seedorff

1921 – 2012

 

Robert Lyle Seedorff, 90, of Armstrong, passed away Sunday, January 29th, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Glasgow.

Bob was born August 20, 1921 in Lamont, Iowa to Andrew and Bessie(Squires) Seedorff.  He graduated from Lamont High School in 1938 and served in the US Army from June 1944 to May 1946, during which he served our country in Iwo Jima and parts of the South Pacific during WWII.

On November 26th, 1955, Bob married Katherine Genadek Cole at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa.  Katherine survives of the home.  Bob is also survived by two step-children, Harlan (Suann) Cole of Fayette, MO and Norma (Don) Haase of Marshall, MO; two daughters, Sandra (Don) Simmons of Imperial, MO and Sharon (Tim) Waters of St. Joseph, MO; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, four nieces, one nephew and numerous cousins.  Hewas preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Bob lived most of his life in Missouri, working a farm outside of Armstrong.  Before farming, he worked as an electric high lineman in several states, and twice working in Greenland.  After retiring to city life in Armstrong, he served several terms on the City Council and worked with the Concerned Citizens, bettering the community of Armstrong.  Bob attended the First Baptist Church of Armstrong, and was also active with the Senior Citizens Group.  He and Katherine enjoyed camping and spent many memorable weeks with their camping friends and Magic City R.V.ers.

Services for Mr. Seedorff are 2pm, Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Chapel in Fayette with Rev. Bob Shultz officiating.  Visitation will be the night before the service at the funeral home from 6-8pm.  A private burial with military honors will take place on a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.
