                                                       1946 – 2011



Slater resident Robert Lee Sellmeyer died suddenly January 13, 2011 at Boone Hospital Center. He was 64 years of age.

Mr. Sellmeyer was born November 13, 1946 in Marshall, MO to Jerome and Loretta Hagedorn Sellmeyer.  A 1964 graduate of Slater High School he continued his education at the University of Missouri completing his Bachelor Degree in Animal Husbandry and a Masters Degree in Education.  He married Lois Barnett May 31, 1975.  Bob taught agriculture and was the FFA Advisor for 30 years in Brunswick, Malta Bend and Marshall High Schools.  He retired in July of 2001.  Bob was an active volunteer as the Beef Superintendent at the Missouri State Fair for a number of years.  He enjoyed being with his family and friends and being in the outdoors.  He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, FFA, FarmHouse Fraternity, Boy Scouts of America and was an Eagle Scout.

Bob is survived by his wife of the home, a son, Clay and his wife Katie Sellmeyer of Ashland, IL and a daughter, Julie and her husband Brian O’Neill of Omaha, NE, four grandchildren, Grace and Sam O’Neill and Ben and John Sellmeyer and one sister, Linda Page of Slater. and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.  Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth and Juanita and one brother, Charles.

A funeral mass will be 10:30 AM, Monday, January 17, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Slater, MO with Father Joseph Shetler officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 PM, Sunday evening at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery near Gilliam, MO with Bill Horgan, Rich Mohs, Ross Page, Bill Jackson, Gabe Ramsey and Ben Gallup serving as Pallbearers.
