Shirley Murphy

1938 - 2011

Fayette resident, Shirley Jean Murphy passed away at her home August 16, 2011 as a result of cancer. She was 73 years of age.

Mrs. Murphy was born March 23, 1938 in Fayette to Raymond Cecil and Edna Bessie (Shields) Vinyard. She attended high school in Macon, MO. She worked in interior design and home decorating for 40 years. Shirley enjoyed being with her family and many friends.

Survivors include her mother, Edna Shields of Centralia, her husband, John Murpy of the home, two daughter, Tricia Clayton and Karen Pirtle both of Fayette, two sons, Dusty Wells of Fayette and John Murphy, Jr. of Minot, ND, one brother, Donnie Vinyard of Moberly and one sister, Darlene Ivy of Centralia, and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be 6 PM, August 19, 2011 at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Chapel in Fayette with Rev. Harold Young officiating, visitation one hour before the service. Memorials are suggested to Howard County Hospice in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service, 174 Hwy 5 & 240 N. Fayette, MO 65248.
