1944 - 2011
Howard County resident Thomas F. Haskamp died May 8, 2011
at University
Hospital in
Columbia. He was 67 years of age.
Mr. Haskamp was born February 10, 1944 in Aholt, MO to Henry J.
and Frances Anna Hackman Haskamp. He was a graduate of
Glasgow High School class of 1962. He married Linda Lou
Vernold May 1, 1965 at Marion Hill
Catholic Church.
She preceded him in death July 8, 1998. Tom worked as a meat
cutter and later as a maintenance worker for the Missouri Dept.
of Transportation. He served in the National Guard. Tom loved
to dance. He could be found any
Saturday night dancing to a country beat. He loved the
outdoors, whether it was fishing, turkey hunting or coon
hunting. His love for nature showed each year in his plentiful
garden and helping his son Brian in the fields. Tom was known
as the “Honorary” Mayor of Hilltop on
Highway 40.
He cherished his family most of all, especially his
granddaughters. His immense love showed as he took them four
wheeler riding and spent countless hours spoiling them.
He is survived by two sons, Brian Haskamp and friend Carla
Whitney of New
Franklin and Tommy and wife Mary Haskamp of Ashland, one
daughter, Kimberly and husband Jim Benner of New Franklin,
special friend, Holly Mackley, three granddaughters, Annie
Benner, Abigail Haskamp and Nicole Benner, five brothers,
Melvin, Jim, Bob and Norman Haskamp all of
Glasgow and
Leon Haskamp of Smithville. Besides his parents and wife he was
preceded in death by one brother, Henry Haskamp, Jr. and one
sister, Leanna Johnson.
A funeral mass will be
10 AM, Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at St. Mary’s Church in
Glasgow with Father Joseph Shetler officiating. Visitation will
be
5 to 8 PM,
Tuesday evening at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in
Glasgow with a Rosary being said at
7:30 PM. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery.
