Bernice Huttsell

1924 – 2012

Fayette resident Veta Bernice Huttsell passed away January 17, 2012 at University Hospital in Columbia.  She was 88 years old.

Mrs. Huttsell was born January 17, 1924 in Mike, MO to Thomas and Octavia Atterbury Graves.  She was a graduate of Marceline High School.  During World War II, Bernice worked on the B-25 Bomber at North American Airlines in Kansas City, MO where she met William Winston Huttsell, who was her foreman.  They were married October 13, 1945, in Kansas City.  The couple enjoyed 58 years together until Mr. Huttsell’s death on May 1, 2004.  Mrs. Huttsell was an active member of the Fayette First Christian Church where she had taught Sunday school.  She had been a member of Ferguson Chapter Number 188, Order of the Eastern Star in Fayette over 25 years.    She helped with the cub scouts and enjoyed needle work, painting, fishing and activities with her family.

Mrs. Huttsell is survived by her son, Stewart and his wife, Pam Huttsell of Fayette, five grandchildren, Aimee and her husband, Rick Sage, Brandon, Jonathan, Ryan and Paige Huttsell, three great grandchildren, Hailey and Hayden Sage and Adelynn Huttsell, brother-in-law, George Pollard and sister-in-law, Mary Graves, both of Marceline.  Besides her parents and husband, Bernice was preceded in death by four sisters, Enola Graves, Genevieve Cox, Hazel Kiel and Virlea Pollard, and three brothers, Marvin, Verner and Werner Graves.

Funeral services will be 3 PM, Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Fayette First Christian Church with Rev. Paula Ritchie officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before the service.
