Viola Hagedorn

1919 – 2011

 Glasgow resident Viola Louise Hagedorn, 91, passed away at the Bluffs Nursing Home in Columbia January 21, 2011. 

 Mrs. Hagedorn was born May 4, 1919 in Aholt, MO to George W. and Mary Caroline Tebbe Himmelberg.  She married Cyril Hagedorn January 22, 1947 at Immaculate Conception Church in Aholt.  He preceded her in death February 29, 2008.  Mrs. Hagedorn was an active member of St. Mary’s Church.  She was a member of the D of I, CCW and the American Legion Auxiliary.

 She is survived by eight children, Ron & Kathy Hagedorn of Glasgow, Eileen & Jim Larson of Kansas City, MO, Mary Roach of Lee’s Summit, Donald & Cheryl Hagedorn of Leawood, KS, Jeanne & Dennis Meyer of Columbia, William & Lana Hagedorn of Moberly, Carol & Dave Pollack of Pine Junction, CO and Dennis & Gina Hagedorn of Sedalia, MO, one brother and four sister-in-laws, George & Viola Himmelberg and Rozina Himmelberg all of Glasgow, Marcella Haskamp and Mary Rose Hagedorn both of Jefferson City, MO, 15 grandchildren, Bradley, Michael, Brian, Brett, Cord and Jared Hagedorn, Daniel & Ryan Larson, Matthew Roach, Jason Meyer and Royce Ancell, Ann Chalfant, Jessica Patchett, Jenna & Alexis Hagedorn, and 12 great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.  Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Irvin, Melvin and Albert Himmelberg and three sisters, Mary Himmelberg, Frances Kroner and Gladys Brucks.

 Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glasgow with Father Joseph Shetler officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 5 to 8 PM at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow with a D of I Rosary at 4:30 and a Prayer Service at 7:45 PM.  Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s School or Church.
