1918 - 2011

Winona Lee (Holloway) Vernold of Fayette, MO passed away at Boone Hospital in Columbia on March 21, 2011. She was 92.

Winona was born Sept. 25, 1918 to Mannie Lee (Bob) Holloway and Lillie Mae (Arbogast) Holloway. She attended and graduated from Marshall High School in 1937. On August 21, 1938, Winona married Wilbur Leo Vernold and they were married 56 years when he passed away Sept. 16, 1994. They had two daughters, Cecil Mae Nichols and Linda Lou Haskamp.

She was an active member in 4-H Club, a 55 year member of Arnette Busy Bees Extension Club, a member of Boonville Boot and Saddle Club, Fayette Senior Center board member and a member of Smith Chapel Methodist Church since 1953.

Winona leaves one daughter, Cecil Mae of Harrisburg, MO, son-in-law Thomas Haskamp of New Franklin, MO, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Durwood Holloway, one daughter, Linda, and son-in-law Henry Haskamp.

Services for Mrs. Vernold are 11 AM, Thursday March 24, 2011 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, with Rev. Kevin Carnahan and Rev. Rick Matson officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be at Slater City Cemetery.
